That's an erroneous generalization. Education, in general, throughout the

United States is poor quality regardless of whether it is governed by private entities or public school boards. Certainly, there are some private schools that provide students with a fantastic education. Similarly, there are some public schools that do a fantastic job of educating young people, however, in both cases, a fantastic education is not the norm, and the quality of the education provided is often closely linked to the socioeconomic status of the area. Success in those schools is generally more a reflection of parental involvement, interest, and emphasis, than $ spent per student. There are a myriad of other reasons why so many American schools are doing a subpar job. Most can be traced back to parents and the students themselves not doing their job.

At any rate, doing away with public education is not the way to solve those problems. Similarly, diverting public educational money to other government functions or tax cuts, also does not improve American education locally or at large. If you really want to improve American schools, pay teachers better, increase loan forgiveness programs for teachers to incentivize qualified college graduates to enter the field and stay in the field, design a national standard of learning objectives, and let teachers teach rather than doing paperwork or babysitting behavior problems. But all of that requires money and intention. Continuing to "fix education" by manufacturing cultural "boogeymen" doesn't help anyone, it just wastes even more crucial dollars on creating more restrictions to solve "problems" that most parents and students don't actually care about.
